Product Matrix

Bronze, Brass and Sintered Materials

Dura-Bar Metal Services stocks many grades of bronze and brass alloys. All material is produced to ASTM and other Specifications. Most grades are designated by Copper Development Association numbers (Cxxxxx).

Continuous Cast Alloys

Material with CDA numbers greater than C80000 are cast, typically by the continuous cast method, to a variety of grades, shapes and sizes. These products are typically cast to nominal dimensions. That means stock is added for machining to the listed dimension.

Dura-Bar Metal Services stocks several grades of Concast bronze. The two most popular grades are:

  • C93200 Bearing Bronze (SAE 660)
Considered the "standard" bearing material for light duty. It is easy to machine and stocked in numerous sizes. It conforms well to irregularities in the journal and is less dependent on lubrication than other alloys.
  • C95400 Aluminum Bronze (9C)
The most common cast aluminum bronze. It comes in a large selection of tubes, solids, rectangles and squares. Used in many heavy duty applications.

Other grades we handle include:

  • C86300 Manganese Bronze (SAE 430B)
Tough, corrosion resistant alloy used in high load and low speed applications. Needs reliable lubrication and hardened shafts. Used in gears, screw down nuts and bridge parts.
  • C89835 No-Lead Bearing Bronze
Engineered to machine and wear like leaded bronze - without the lead. Safe for potable water applications. This product is made to order. Contact us for a quick quotation.
  • C90300 Tin Bronze (SAE620 or Navy "G" Bronze)
Often used for high loads and low speeds, it is hard and strong with good corrosion and wear resistance. Requires good alignment and lubrication of mating part. This product is cast to size.
  • C92200 Leaded Tin Bronze (SAE 622 or Navy "M" Bronze)
General purpose alloy for medium strength applications. Possesses good resistance to salt water. Found in medium-pressure hydraulic and steam applications up to 550° F.
  • C93700 Hi-Leaded Tin Bronze (SAE 64)
Good strength alloy with high physical properties, excellent wear resistance under high speed, heavy pressure, shocks and vibrations. Can be used where lubrication is doubtful.
  • C95500 Aluminum Bronze
Nickel is added to the aluminum to increase the toughness for use in extreme applications such as gun recoil mechanisms.
  • C95510 or AMS4880
Stocked heat-treated and proof turned, this material is used often used to make landing gear bearings and bushings.
  • C95900 Aluminum Bronze
Good abrasion product used where there is not impact present. Good heat conductivity, it is often used in plastic mold applications.
  • RCB954 Roller Coaster Bronze
A special cast rectangle alloy with mechanical characteristics similar to C954. It is cast to bend easier than C95400. This product is made to order. Contact us for a quick quotation.

Extruded Alloys

In general, material with a CDA/UNS number less than C80000 is wrought. That means it is first cast, then physically worked to obtain its shape, usually by the extrusion process.

Due to the reduction in area of the material, it typically has higher properties than its cast equivalents. These products are usually produced to the listed size with little to no stock added. The typical alloys we supply are as follows.

  • C17300 & C17510 Beryllium Copper
Good machining material with high strength, good conductivity, wear resistance and is non-magnetic. We carry a mix of sizes in these grades and can supply most sizes quickly. Contact us to check sizes.
  • C46400 Tin Brass (Naval Brass)
Designed for medium strength and salt water corrosion resistance. Often cut from plate.
  • C51000 Phosphor Bronze (A)
Common product used in a variety of bushing, plate, gear, valve, screw machine and small part applications.
  • C54400 Phosphor Bronze (B-2)
    Same as C51000.
  • C61400 Aluminum Bronze
Both a round and plate bearing material for high strength applications. See the selection of rounds in stock and contact us for a quick plate quote.
  • C62300 Aluminum Bronze
Used in screw machine parts for other heavy use applications. Produced mainly in small diameter sizes under 3" it is made larger. Contact us to check availability.
  • C62400 Aluminum Bronze
The wrought equivalent of C95400, possessing higher mechanical properties. Produced mainly in small diameter sizes under 3" it is made larger. Contact us to check availability.
  • C63000 Nickel Aluminum Bronze
A very high strength product with mechanical properties higher than the cast equivalents. Available as solid rounds only.
  • C67300 & C67400 Leaded Silicon Manganese Brass
Material possessing excellent capacity for hot forming. Used in valve stem, pump, bearing and corrosive applications.

Sintered or Powdered Metals

Sintered, or powdered metals, are not cast at all, but pressed into shape. Typically done as a near net shape or finished part, sintered products can be impregnated with lubricants to prolong the life of the part. If you are considering a bronze or brass part, let us review your print and see if it can be made economically as a sintered part.

While many metals can be used as a sintered part, we typically make parts from bronze or iron. The two most common grades we supply are as follows.

  • SAE841 Sintered Bronze
A common, all purpose bearing material used in many home, farm and machinery applications. Provides good lubrication and product life. Can be purchased in 6" length bars and plates or pressed to a finished size. Contact us with your finish machined sizes.
  • SAE863 Sintered Iron
Typically used where higher strength and load is an issue. Found in off-road and construction equipment. Contact us with your finish machined sizes.
